Animal & Bird Medical Center will be

Closing as of March 16, 2011

We have enjoyed taking care of your pets these past 13 years.  However, the physical demands of the job are significant, and the time is right for me to take a position that is less physically challenging.  I am a "big dog" person at heart, but when our many 130 lb patients seem to weigh 180 and our one 227 lb patient seems to weight 400 lbs, it is time to make an adjustment.

I will be moving out of the area, but will continue to be accessible at katie@animalandbird.com.

We will be taking care of records after March 10, 2011 and will let you know the details of that as the week progresses.

Please be sure we have your email.

If you are not sure we have it - please send it to katie@animalandbird.com

Please be patient with us as we close the clinic.

FOOD FOR YOUR BIRD

If your bird isn’t on the Harrison’s pelleted diet, it should at least be on a Species-specfic pelleted diet (Pretty Bird).

Harrison’s Bird Diets: Harrison’s Bird Diets are organically grown and have no food coloring or preservatives. They are extremely healthy for your bird. However, because there are no preservatives, once you open the bag, you can only feed out of it for 4-6 weeks. After that there is too much risk that the food will go bad. The cost is about twice that of other pellets, but it is well worth it. The flavor is nutty.

Pretty Bird Pellets: Pretty Bird has been developing a strong line of species-specific foods for many years now. A 10 lb dog is not a 10 lb cat. A 500 g Amazon is not a 500 g Grey. They each have different nutritional needs. Amazons & Cockatoos need more protein & less fat. Greys need more calcium. Macaws need more fat (of the right kind of fat).

Pretty Bird Jungle Munchies: These are also species-specific foods. This is a seed based diet and although it can be fed as the primary food, we recommend using it primarily as a fun food at the end of the day. The 2 really nice things about this food are that Pretty Bird has replaced the peanuts with almonds, and that the food is packaged in nitrogen to so that neither bugs nor their eggs can live --- and anyone who has purchased birdseed knows what a problem that can be.
